Three tools. One environmental picture.

GeoSutra builds its own tools so that local knowledge, field evidence and environmental data can meet in one place. This page says what each one does, who it is for, and exactly where it stands today.

Live · open to explore

Himalayan Observatory

An interactive map of all 753 local governments, with tree cover and loss, climate, fire detections and reported disasters. The map and boundaries are open to everyone. Data layers, analysis, reports and downloads are available to approved accounts. Climate Analytics sits inside it.

Live · Android, 1.0.0 Early Access

GeoSutra Field

An Android app for field surveys and evidence. Forms, GPS fixes and photographs are recorded offline, kept safe on the phone, and synchronised when a connection returns. Projects and surveys are set up in the Observatory by approved accounts.

GeoSutra AI

A research assistant for questions about Nepal's environment. It answers from a curated library of open-access research and shows the pages it used. An internal prototype works today; public access, a hosted service and a connection to project data are still being built.

How they connect, today.

Observatory and Field: connected. A project and survey published in the Observatory reach the phone, and the evidence collected comes back to the Observatory. We tested this end to end in October 2026, during Field's Early Access. Reviewing returned evidence in the Observatory needs a separate reviewer account and is still being checked.

GeoSutra AI and the other two: not yet connected. We are designing it to read only what a signed-in user is already allowed to see, and to cite every source. We will say here when that works.
