Consent & participation

Before we measure anything, we ask.

Where Indigenous Peoples, Indigenous knowledge or community rights are involved, our approach follows UNDRIP and Free, Prior and Informed Consent. In practice:

Explain the work.
Explain what data will be collected.
Explain why.
Explain potential uses.
Listen to concerns.
Respect local decision-making.
Seek consent before proceeding.
Agree how data will be handled.
Return useful results.
Remain accountable.

Before, during, after.

BeforeWe explain what we collect and why, and seek consent.
DuringWhere practical, the community walks the plots and checks the map with us.
AfterResults return in a usable form; accuracy is reported for that site.
Project dataOwned by the commissioning organisation.
Community knowledgeUsed only as agreed, credited as they choose. We do not claim a blanket data-sovereignty policy we have not adopted; the agreement is written per project.
Sensitive informationSacred sites, harvestable resources and vulnerable species locations are generalised or withheld from public outputs.
Public datasetsReleased with attribution where they can safely be shared, on Open Data.
Personal data & dronesHandled under our privacy policy, aligned with Nepal's Privacy Act, 2075.

How we know

If we give you a number, you can trace it.

Every figure carries a source, date, method, unit, scope and, where relevant, its uncertainty. Model accuracy is reported for the site it was measured on, never assumed for the next.
